The Anselmi family established themselves as winemakers in the 1920’s when they purchased a small estate in the north east of Italy in the Friuli region, the vineyard is located on the coast so enjoys warm days and a cooling effect in the evenings.
The family business is now run by the brothers Guiseppe and Lugi Anselmi who still use traditional techniques to create aromatic and flavoursome wines. In recent years the market has been flooded with insipid characterless mass produced Pinot Grigio IGT wines predominately from regions in southern Italy not suited to the Pinot Grigio grape.
The Ca Stella is a DOC wine that is far from characterless, in fact it’s a delight in the glass. A nose of aromatic white flowers and a hint of pear. It slips along with pear and ripe green fruits over fine refreshing acidity and a hint of minerality.
