Description
A family run vineyard located in the south of Minervois which is run by the Orosquette family who have generations of vine growing experience. The vineyards overlook the canal de midi and sustainable agriculture is the rule of the property. Chateau La Grave is unique in the region because it also focuses on white wine production and has been gaining awards for its white over the last few years. The growing of the Sauvignon Blanc grape is still very small with only a very limited supply of this grape for wine making.
The owner Jean-Francois not only has a passion for wine but also a passion for driving, in 1988 he competed in the Paris-Dakar rally and in order to promote his new wines he brought along a couple of bottles to do a tasting on the finish line in Dakar….however, with the city of Dakar in sight the trusted Toyota seriously overheated and with no water available, the only option was a blend of chardonnay and sauvignon blanc poured into the radiator, after some protest from the engine, the fine blend saw him safely over the line.ÂÂ
Pale yellow with green tints, a fresh aroma of flowers and minerals. The taste is fruity with good acidity and a dash of grapefruit, slightly more body than sauvignon’s from other areas in France. ÂÂ
