Description
The vineyards of Maratray Dubreuil have been worked by the same family for three generations and are deeply embedded in the Cote de Beaune. The Maratray family is originally from the village of Ladoix and the Dubreul family vineyards came from the village of Pernand Vergelesses. The vineyards are now managed by the sister and brother team of Marie Madeleine and Francis Xavier Maratray. All grapes are hand harvested and Francis Xavier decides how each wine is vinified, according to its terroir, climate and vintage. The wines from this small estate consistently over perform producing splendid wines from the region. The Ladoix 1er Cru Les Grechons is no exception.
A lovely pale golden colour with a whiff of honeycomb, hazelnuts and subtle oak with fine minerality. On the palate it is weighty and textured with ripe apple, citrus and white stone fruit. Proper 1er Cru quality. Great to drink now but will improve well for the next 3 to 4 years.
