Description
The wines from Queirรยณn adhere to the new Rioja classification รขโฌลVino de Puebloรขโฌย which means the vineyards must be family owned within a named village. It is in effect moving back to the traditional ways, rather than the big wine makers buying grapes from all over the region and making a generic Rioja wine.
The wine is made from a high altitude varietal tempranillo which incorporates the technique of exposing the grapes to the sun.รย Sun-drying is an age-old practice for over-ripening the grapes by direct exposure of the clusters to sunlight, spread out in the open air so as to encourage partial dehydration in which the berries remain intact but with an evolution in their concentration without beginning to rot.
Complex, lots of ripe dark fruits (ripe plums, blackberries, black cherries) with hints of fine wood from the five months aged in French oak casks. Powerful flavours, long with buckets of body, excellent acidity and ripe tannins.
