Description
Pierre Lavau could easily be mistaken for an Irishman with his bushy head of red hair, however his family is steeped in St Emilion tradition, his grandfather Gabriel worked as a cooper in St Emilion and visited many vineyards repairing barrels. Over time he enlarged the small family estate which Pierre increased in size when in 1996 he purchased a small parcel of land in St Emilion.
Years of experience has allowed Pierre to understand the importance of the soil as a whole. He naturally evolved towards lutte raisonnee to reduce pesticides. In the same spirt he sows cereals like oats between the vine rows and tills these back into the soil to provide natural nutrients, no herbicides are used on his properties. This approach results in wines that differ from vintage to vintage but respects their true place of origin.
An elegant wine, black cherry and currant fruit intermixed with some spice box and forest fruits. Silky tannins, layered mouthfeel and expansive finish.ÂÂ
